The Australian Indigenous Communications Association Incorporated is a body that represents members of the National Indigenous Media and Communications Industry. The Representative Association advocates for and formulates policy on behalf of this sector. During the 1980s and 1990s, enthusiastic Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities in many parts of Australia, with the help of very limited ATSIC, DICTA and now DEWHA funding, established community based radio and television stations.
