CAAMA
The Central Australian Indigenous Media Association (CAAMA) began operations in 1980 and was the first Aboriginal group to be allocated a broadcasting license. The Aboriginal people of Central Australia own CAAMA through an association regulated under the Incorporations Act , and its objectives focus on the social, cultural and economic advancement of Aboriginal peoples. It has a clear mandate to promote Aboriginal culture, language, dance, and music while generating economic benefits in the form of training, employment and income generation. CAAMA produces media products that engenders pride in Aboriginal culture, while informing and educating the wider community of the richness and diversity of the Aboriginal peoples of Australia CAAMA Productions Pty Ltd is the largest Indigenous production house in Australia. We are an experienced film making company located in the centre of Alice Springs with an intimate knowledge of our local Aboriginal people and communities. In partnership with Imparja Television we produce the “Nganampa Anwernkenhe” culture and language documentary series, featuring the diversity of life in Central Australia. Nganampa Anwernkenhe celebrated its 21st birthday in 2008, and with between four and six half-hour episodes produced each year, we believe it is the longest running series of its kind in the world. CAAMA Productions would like to commend Imparja Television for their vision in continuing to support this important series. CAAMA Productions Phone: +61 08 8951 9750
